Our directions – 2025 municipal election

Citizens

  • Our governance will put listening and citizen well-being at the forefront.

  • Permanent committees between citizens and their district councillors will be established.

  • The targeted tax increase will remain at or below the inflation rate.

 

Administration and Finances

  • Strict control of long-term debt and maintenance of a solid financial posture.

  • Project selection will be aligned with the city’s financial capacity and will take into account the impact on the operating budget.

  • The budget will be harmonized with inflation.

 

Regulations

  • Provide flexibility to citizens in the interpretation of regulations. We will aim for fair positions that balance citizen well-being with village considerations.

 

Projects

  • Projects will be selected based on a clear vision for the evolution of our city, its financial capacity, and the added value they bring to citizens.

 

Real Estate Development

  • Support real estate development while respecting the capacity of natural resources and the village context of Dunham.

  • Evaluate taxation options based on the improvement of the real estate stock.

Climate Change

  • Study to determine the impacts of climate change in Dunham and analysis of solutions adapted to our city.

Municipal Council Meetings with Transparency

 

  • Active participation of councillors

  • Simplified explanations of regulations presented to citizens

  • Visual support for urban planning requests and the flow of council meetings

  • Structured presentation of monthly highlights

  • Presentation of projects with full costs and alternative options studied

  • Monitoring of project progress and budget updates at each meeting

Tourism and Cultural Development

 

  • Support the creation of a tourism association for Dunham.

  • Update and enrich the municipal website’s tourism content (artists, accommodations, local activities).

  • Strengthen the city’s presence on major regional tourism platforms and circuits.

  • Organize annual events: Dunham Fall Festival, Family Cycling Days, etc.

  • Encourage events during the winter season.

  • Support and diversify agrotourism circuits (expand the “Maison des vins,” host business meetings at tourist sites, etc.).

  • Define our “panoramic” heritage and create circuits around it.

 

 

Recreation and Public Infrastructure

 

  • Adopt a comprehensive plan for the improvement, maintenance, and synergy of municipal parks.

  • Targeted developments (parking areas, universal accessibility, adapted recreational facilities).

  • Install permanent sanitary facilities in municipal parks.

  • Provide increased support for family activities (day camps, early childhood centers), including potential inter-municipal partnerships.

  • Develop new sport-leisure opportunities: skating on Lac Selby, cross-country skiing, public swimming, etc.

  • Improve services for cyclists to encourage stops in town (repair stations, café-restaurants, routes on Dunham’s website with audio guides).

 

 

Dunham — Proactive Management for a Sustainable Future

Coherent actions in support of economic and environmental development.

 

Economic Development and Business Support

 

  • Support the creation of a business association for Dunham.

  • Encourage integration and expansion of local businesses within the community.

  • Offer a mentorship chamber for young investors.

 

 

Environmental Protection and Lac Selby Management

 

  • Develop a coordinated revitalization plan for Lac Selby in collaboration with the Association for the Protection of the Environment of Lac Selby (APELS).

  • Review and optimize management strategies for sensors and sediment analysis.

  • Implement preventive measures to reduce phosphorus and sediment inputs upstream of the lake.

  • Adopt a strict annual maintenance schedule (cleaning and inspection of equipment such as sediment collector, buoys, etc.).

  • Resolve the issue of unidentified pipelines on Valiquette Street.

  • Enhance and democratize public access to the lake for all citizens.

  • Establish a municipal washing station for watercraft.

  • Publish a detailed Lac Selby plan on the city’s website (public areas, boating regulations, washing procedures).

  • Support the preservation of an undeveloped land strip on the southwest side of Lac Selby.

 

 

Beautification of Our Town

 

  • Implement support programs for residents for branch removal, collapsed barns, scrap metal, etc.

 

 

Community Activities

 

  • Encourage community activities, especially those fostering intergenerational connections, adding value to village institutions, or increasing citizen well-being.

 

The First 100 Days – 2025 municipal election

  • Establish a Win-Win Climate with the Current Administration

 

  • Assess the Situation:

 

      Meetings with employees from all departments

      Evaluate the overall condition of infrastructure

  • Reassess the portfolio of ongoing projects

 

  • Review operational and management plans

 

  • Citizen consultation on needs: roundtable discussions

 

  • Reprioritize projects within a vision of “Let's bring our township back”

 

  • Review and present a responsible 2026 budget aimed at minimizing tax increases
